Lighter-than-air systems, designed and built in India

Not every problem requires a satellite.

We build platforms that stay: tethered aerostats, airships and high-altitude systems that hold station for days, weeks and months, and belong to the people who fly them.

Supplied to the Indian Air Force. Flown for the Ahmedabad City Police and the Kerala Forest Department.

Company photograph and footage. No renders.

Between the ground and orbit lies a layer that can stay.

Towers are fixed. Drones last hours. Satellites pass on a schedule that belongs to someone else. In between is a layer that can hold station for days, weeks and months. India has imported it, or gone without. We build it.

Persistence is a property of the platform. Lift on helium and nothing wears out while the platform watches; the three classes we build occupy the bands that stay longest.

Altitude bands and time on station, not to scale Towers and masts: fixed, tens of metres. Tethered aerostats: hundreds of metres to a kilometre, days to weeks, built by Empyreal Galaxy. Airships: low to medium altitude, days to weeks, mobile, built by Empyreal Galaxy. High-altitude platforms: about twenty kilometres, months, in design at Empyreal Galaxy. Satellites: four hundred kilometres and above, minutes per pass. ground orbit altitude, not to scale Towers and masts Fixed. Tens of metres. Until the grid fails Empyreal Galaxy Tethered aerostats Hundreds of metres to 1 km Days to weeks on one fill Flying since 2024 Empyreal Galaxy Airships Low to medium altitude Days to weeks, mobile No runway In flight test Empyreal Galaxy High-altitude platforms About twenty kilometres Months above the weather Recoverable, re-flown In design Satellites 400 km and above Minutes per pass Someone else's schedule time on station · days to weeks days to weeks months minutes, repeated

Drones and unmanned aircraft also work in the lower bands; their endurance is measured in hours, and a motor failure ends the sortie with the sensor on it.

Coverage is now bought by the hour, not by the sortie.

Buyers of surveillance and connectivity budget for continuous presence. A platform that stays changes the arithmetic of an entire watch.

Sovereign platforms are preferred by policy, not only by sentiment.

India's procurement now favours systems designed, developed and manufactured at home. An indigenous lighter-than-air company sits inside that preference.

Sensors and radios have become light enough to fly on helium.

A camera that reads a number plate from a kilometre away, or a cell site, now weighs what a tethered platform lifts with ease. The payloads arrived; the platforms are the gap.

Three platform classes, one engineering stack.

The envelope, the tether, the mooring, the winch and the ground station are shared across the family. What changes is altitude, mobility and time aloft.

Tethered aerostats

Days to weeks on one fill of helium, at heights a tower cannot reach and a drone cannot hold. On station within hours of arrival, without a runway.

Carries: cameras, radios, radars and sensors, powered and connected through the tether.

Record: flown for government users since 2024; components supplied to the Indian Air Force.

Airships

Persistence with mobility: platforms that reposition, loiter and return, launched and recovered from open ground. Built for regional surveillance and communications, and in time for cargo where roads end.

Carries: surveillance and communication payloads today; cargo modules on the roadmap.

Record: a propelled test article in flight test at the Nashik works.

In design

High-altitude platforms

Months above the weather, at the edge of space. A stratospheric layer for communications and observation over an entire region, recoverable, serviceable and re-flown, at a fraction of the cost of orbit.

Carries: communication relays and wide-area observation payloads.

Record: concept and design work under way; drawn here, not photographed, because it has not flown.

A single family of envelopes, tethers, moorings and ground stations, from a few metres across to tens of metres, and from a hundred metres above the ground to the stratosphere.

Flown, not rendered.

Forty-eight seconds of our own footage: a launch for the city police under a monsoon sky, the feed over the forest at thirty-times zoom, the sealing press and the winch at Nashik, and the airship in the hangar. Every frame on this page is our aircraft.

Where a platform that stays changes the outcome.

The aircraft is the same. What changes by mission is the payload, the height and the length of the watch.

Borders and coasts

Continuous watch over a sector or a stretch of coast, from a platform that belongs to the unit and stays up between patrols.

Cities and crowds

A live overhead picture for the control room for the whole length of a procession, a match or a rally.

Forests and wildlife

Fire, poaching and human–wildlife conflict watched over terrain where towers cannot be built and drones cannot stay.

Disasters and connectivity

A cell site or radio relay at height within hours of arrival, when the ground network is under water or without power; coverage for islands and valleys that cables never reach.

Energy and infrastructure

Perimeters and assets watched for solar parks, ports, refineries and pipelines, with analytics on the ground station.

Science and the atmosphere

A stable instrument platform at height for days at a time, and in time a stratospheric one for months.

Built in Nashik.

Envelope sealing, winch and mooring fabrication, avionics and flight test under one roof in Maharashtra, with an indigenous supply base behind it.

Envelopes shaped in simulation before fabric is cut. Moorings that turn with the wind so no single line carries the gust. Winches that answer to tension, not to guesswork. A ground station that learns from every flight.

Three platform classes have flown. The next class is in qualification. The configurations that make the family work are the company's own and are being protected.
